Ruben Amorim has not been convinced by Samuele Ricci and Yunus Musah in the early weeks of his Milan tenure, and both could be moved on before the window shuts.
The 3-4-2-1 needs two central midfielders who can control tempo and cover ground, and if the manager has already decided two of his options don't fit, that's a signal Milan aren't finished reshaping the middle of the pitch. Ricci only arrived from Torino this summer, so seeing him linked with an exit already is the kind of quick reversal that says more about the system than the player.
Carlo Pellegatti, speaking on his YouTube channel (via MilanNews), pushed back slightly on how firm the reporting is while confirming the direction of travel. “I repeat, I read it, but it seems strange to me that Amorim would confess this to anyone, but Musah was indeed offered to Lazio,” he said.
The concrete moves are coming from elsewhere. Ricci's agent has started sounding out Juventus and Atalanta, according to Calciomercato.com, with the Italian seen as surplus to what Amorim wants in the double pivot. On Musah, La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Lazio are keen and that Gennaro Gattuso, who coached him at Valencia, wants him, with a bid worth around €20m being put together.
For Milan, €20m for Musah would be tidy business given they paid roughly €18m to bring him from Valencia in 2023 and he has never nailed down a defined role in Milanello. Ricci is the more curious case, a player bought this summer as one for the future who now finds himself on the outside before he has kicked a competitive ball under the new manager.
Both deals are live rather than done, and the decision on how hard to push sits with the club and with Amorim's read on who fits the system. Expect movement here before the window closes.
