Ruben Amorim has handed his Milan squad a day off, with training set to resume on Tuesday as the Rossoneri begin preparing for Sunday's Serie A opener at Torino.
The break follows a demanding weekend that took the team to Poland and back for their final preseason friendly, a 4-2 win over Manchester United in Wrocław on Saturday. Milan flew home straight after the game and trained on Sunday, so Amorim has opted to give his players a day to recover before the real work starts.
Milanello will stay empty on Monday despite the trip to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino now less than a week away. The squad had already been granted three days off earlier last week after returning from their tour, and Amorim has judged that the travel this time warranted another pause.
Training resumes on Tuesday 18 August, when the group and staff will properly turn their attention to Ignazio Abate's Granata.
Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot, both back with the squad on Sunday, will be present. The situations of Matteo Gabbia, Rafael Leão and Christian Pulisic are still being monitored, with Gabbia and Leão expected to rejoin the group during the week and be available in Turin if Amorim calls on them.
With the opener approaching, the fitness of the front three is what Amorim will be watching between now and Sunday.
