Ruben Amorim has named his Milan side for the third preseason friendly of the summer against Chelsea, making six changes from the team that drew with Inter.
The Rossoneri have yet to win a warm-up match, having come from 2-0 down to draw with Celtic through a Francesco Camarda brace before equalising late against Inter following a Christopher Nkunku strike. A first-choice spine is still taking shape, and the trip to Stamford Bridge doubles as a test of ideas against Enzo Maresca's attack.
Amorim has gone with a back three of Filippo Terracciano, Koni De Winter and Strahinja Pavlović in front of goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani, an untested rearguard tasked with containing João Pedro, Cole Palmer and company. Samuel Chukwueze and Pervis Estupiñán take the wing-back roles.
In midfield, Luka Modrić partners the young Christian Comotto in a double pivot. Camarda leads the line again, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Rafael Leão operating behind him in the 3-4-2-1.
The bench carries far more experience than the starting XI, with Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia, Alexis Saelemaekers, Youssouf Fofana, Ardon Jashari, Santiago Giménez and Nkunku all among the substitutes.
Milan XI (3-4-2-1): Torriani; Terracciano, De Winter, Pavlović; Chukwueze, Modrić, Comotto, Estupiñán; Loftus-Cheek, Leão; Camarda. Bench: Pittarella, Bouyer, Gabbia, Tomori, Diawara, Odogu, Bartesaghi, Athekame, Vladimirov, Jashari, Fofana, Ricci, Musah, Saelemaekers, Cissè, Nkunku, Ramos.
Chelsea XI (4-2-3-1): Sanchez; Palestra, W. Fofana, Acheampong, Hato; Caicedo, Lavia; Pedro Neto, Palmer, Welbeck; João Pedro. Bench: Sharman Lowe, Penders, Anselmino, Sarr, Delap, Subuloye, Nicoll-Jazuli, Quenda, Satpayev, Gittens, Essugo, Jackson, Mudryk, Estevao, Adarabioyo, Walsh, Watson.
With Comotto starting in midfield and Camarda leading the line, Amorim is trusting youth in the spine against a Champions League side, and how they hold up will tell him more than the scoreline.
