Ruben Amorim will name a starting eleven against Manchester United on Saturday that closely mirrors the side he intends to send out for Milan's Serie A opener against Torino on August 23rd, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Wroclaw friendly is the last of the preseason, and the experimenting is finished. Amorim has spent the summer keeping a competitive XI on the pitch, but that approach has come at a cost: certain mechanisms are still not fully drilled. From Wednesday, the focus shifts squarely onto Torino rather than rotating minutes for the good of the group.
Mario Gila's return to the back three is the immediate gain, giving Amorim the option to push his defensive line higher. The absence of Christian Pulisic is the flip side, since he is central to how the former Sporting CP coach wants to attack.
The mercato also shapes the picture. Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot will both miss the United game on August 15, but the two Frenchmen should be available for the Torino opener the following week, even with only a single week of training behind them.
For the Torino XI, Gazzetta expects Maignan in goal behind a back three of Gila, Matteo Gabbia and Pavlović. Samuel Chukwueze takes the right flank, with either Alexis Saelemaekers or Bartesaghi on the left. Luka Modrić could be paired with Comotto in midfield if Rabiot is not at full fitness.
The two attacking midfield spots are the open question, with two of Nkunku, Rafael Leão and Ruben Loftus-Cheek set to fill them. Ramos leads the line as the lone striker.
