Amorim's attacking midfield remains unsettled after five different pairings this season

Milan have cycled through five different attacking midfield combinations under Ruben Amorim without landing on a settled pair, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who describe the players occupying those positions as "restless."

Six players have filled the two No.10 roles so far, and the constant rotation reflects a coach still in the early stages of working out his squad. Amorim has been open about wanting to test every available option, but the experimentation sits in the area of the pitch most directly tied to results, and the churn has been felt.

Christian Pulisic appears closest to nailing down one of the two spots and is expected to start this weekend. The other position is far less clear. Diego Moreira, Adrien Rabiot and Omari Hutchinson are all options as left-footed alternatives, while Alphadjo Cisse could also push for involvement.

One pattern has been consistent: no starting pair has lasted a full 90 minutes yet, meaning a place on the bench has not amounted to exclusion. Amorim is treating both the opening and closing acts of each match as open auditions.

That flexibility gives him information, but at some point information has to become conviction. The next move belongs to Amorim, and this weekend's teamsheet will show whether the experimenting phase is narrowing or still wide open.
