Gerry Cardinale watched Milan's win at Torino up close on Sunday, sending the players into the dressing room after the warm-up and celebrating with them individually once the match was won.
The Milan owner has spent much of his tenure at a distance from the club he controls, and the lack of personal involvement was one of the loudest complaints among supporters. His presence at Torino, and the manner of it, marks a clear shift in how he intends to be seen around the squad.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Cardinale waited at the end of the pre-match warm-up to send the players off with some encouragement before kick-off. When the game finished with Milan on the right side of the result, he went into the dressing room and personally congratulated each member of the team.
The plan, it appears, is for this to become a habit rather than a one-off. Cardinale is expected at Milanello during the week and will then be back at San Siro for the home opener against Venezia.
For an owner who has struggled to win over the stands, showing up in the dressing room is the cheapest and most direct way to start changing the picture, and it is now on him to keep it up.
