Gerry Cardinale is set to sit down individually with several Milan players this week to lay out where each of them stands under his ownership.
The American's growing involvement in daily matters at the club has been one of the defining themes of the summer, with Cardinale attending Milanello on several occasions and taking personal charge of certain negotiations. This next step, direct conversations with the squad, follows that same hands-on approach.
Cardinale is due back in Italy on Friday and will head straight to the training ground, where Ruben Amorim and the squad are preparing for Sunday's season-opener. He will not simply be watching from the sidelines.
According to FootballKush, the meetings will cover both ends of the squad. "Gerry Cardinale will be at Milanello tomorrow to sit down with key players one on one, both, those staying as part of the project AND those the club is looking to move on," the report states. "The meetings are to explain the project directly and the realities under his now hands-on ownership. Each player will hear exactly what to expect now that he's running things."
The timing puts personal reassurance and personal notice on the same schedule, delivered by the owner rather than filtered through the coach or the sporting department.
Amorim spoke over the weekend about how his relationship with Cardinale is developing, and since then he has been handed a new signing in wing-back Diego Moreira, who arrived for €50m plus bonuses.
From here, it is Cardinale who does the talking, and the squad will find out face to face which side of the project they are on.
