Alphadjo Cisse is on Roberto Mancini's radar for a senior Italy call-up after scoring again for Milan on Sunday night, his second goal in three games.
The young forward has become one of the few consistent bright spots in an attack that is still finding its shape under Amorim. Sunday's draw at the Allianz Stadium showed a Milan side very much in progress going forward, and once more it was Cisse who changed the mood after coming off the bench.
His movement inside the pitch and his knack for arriving in the right place have already earned him a defined role in Amorim's 3-4-2-1. The former Catanzaro player is doing enough to be noticed well beyond Milanello.
The report adds that Leonardo Bonucci, Mancini's assistant with the national team, was in the stands at the stadium on Sunday evening. What has filtered since is that Mancini is weighing a call-up for the upcoming Nations League fixtures: Belgium on Friday 25 September in Rome, Turkey away on Monday 28 September and again on Monday 5 October in Bologna, and France on Friday 2 October in Saint-Denis.
Cisse has already worked his way through Italy's youth setup, with two appearances for the U21s, six for the U19s including a goal in a friendly against Serbia, one for the U18s and four for the U16s. A step up to the senior squad would be the natural continuation of that path.
For a player only just establishing himself in the first team, an Italy call-up this early would say plenty about how quickly his stock has risen. From here, the decision rests with Mancini.
