Galatasaray are preparing a second offer for Rafael Leão worth around €50m plus bonuses, according to MilanNews, in a fresh push to reach an agreement with Milan as quickly as possible.
Leão's future has been the dominant thread of the Rossoneri's summer since the end of May, and the picture has shifted week by week. The early running pointed to the Premier League, with The Athletic reporting a tentative approach from Aston Villa before Tottenham emerged as another possible destination.
The Turkish side are now moving again. Their first offer, made a month ago, was €35m fixed, and MilanNews report they have decided to try to break the deadlock with an improved bid of roughly €50m, with the bonus structure still to be worked out. The feeling is that it could be enough to see off the interest from Spurs and Villa, talks that have been driven by Jorge Mendes.
Gianluca Di Marzio, meanwhile, reports that Leão's departure "is getting closer." Two clubs have come forward with concrete offers, Villa and Galatasaray, the latter a side that had "never completely abandoned the pursuit."
Fresh contact between Milan and Villa came on Tuesday evening, and Di Marzio suggests Galatasaray could return in the coming days to try to convince the player to accept a move to Istanbul.
The gap is where the deal will be decided. Galatasaray had already signalled a willingness to go beyond €40m in recent weeks, while Milan have held firm at around €60m in total, split between €50m fixed and the rest in bonuses. Even at €50m plus add-ons, the new bid may not fully close the distance on the fixed figure Milan want, though it narrows it considerably.
From here, it rests on whether Galatasaray can meet Milan's valuation and, just as importantly, persuade Leão that Turkey is the right destination.
