Gila's fitness, the midfield balance and the No.10 spots: Amorim's calls ahead of Lazio

Ruben Amorim faces three selection dilemmas before Milan travel to the Olimpico this weekend, with the trip to Lazio carrying significant weight in the European qualification race.

The draw against Juventus offered little breathing room, and the focus has already shifted south. According to MilanNews, the decisions break down across defence, midfield and the attacking roles behind the striker.

The first centres on Mario Gila. Milan have come to depend on him at the back, and a return to his former club's stadium adds an extra layer. Gila was substituted early against Juventus, raising concerns, but scans were ultimately deemed unnecessary and he expressed his desire to feature against Lazio. A rest day during the week should help his condition, and the question now is whether Amorim trusts him to complete 90 minutes for the first time this season.

In midfield, Luka Modrić's recent form has become a talking point. The veteran appears to be struggling, and Lazio's midfield quality may demand a change. Ardon Jashari is the obvious candidate if Amorim decides to rotate, though the Swiss international could also come in for Yunus Musah rather than Modrić. Either combination would alter the balance in the middle of the pitch, and which partnership Amorim settles on will say plenty about his priorities for this fixture.

Then there are the No.10 roles. Alphadjo Cissé looks set to reclaim a starting berth, while Adrien Rabiot could be handed another opportunity from the off. Christian Pulisic is also in the mix, and Amorim may judge this the right moment to reintroduce him to the lineup.

From here, the next two training sessions will shape the teamsheet, and Amorim's choices will tell us whether he sees Lazio as a game to manage or one to go and win.
