Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot reported back to Milanello this morning to begin their pre-season work, giving Amorim the full group ahead of the opening weekend against Torino.
The pair's late return has been a talking point all week, since they were absent while the rest of the squad prepared and played. Amorim has already explained the reasoning, and it comes down to workload management rather than any special treatment.
"Rabiot and Maignan had more days off because they played more. That was important to me," Amorim said. "Everyone complains about the number of games and the players being unable to cope with the strain, and I gave the players those extra days because I already knew they wouldn't be able to play today's match. So I gave them three more days. Nothing will change. And I need to say that it was my decision, not the players', ."
According to MilanNews, the duo arrived for a session that started at 11:00 CEST, with fitness tests expected to gauge where they stand physically. They will rest tomorrow before rejoining full team training on Tuesday.
