Milan agree Diego Moreira deal with Strasbourg as summer spend nears €150m

Milan have agreed a deal with Strasbourg for wing-back Diego Moreira, with the Italian front pages on Monday framing the move as the summer's latest surprise and the third big arrival of the mercato.

The move answers a request Ruben Amorim had made in recent days for reinforcement on the flanks, and it lands just before the season opener against Torino. It also carries the fingerprints of Jorge Mendes, the agent who already brought Gonçalo Ramos to the club and who Tuttosport says beat Dortmund to the winger this time around.

The reported fee varies by outlet. La Gazzetta dello Sport puts it at €45m, while Corriere dello Sport, Tuttosport and QS all have the figure at €50m. Either way, the papers agree that Gerry Cardinale's outlay for the window has now reached around €150m, following the money spent on Ramos and Gila.

Corriere dello Sport describes the deal as a Milan blitz and points to Moreira's numbers from last season, five goals and nine assists, as the case for the investment. Tuttosport casts it as another heavy commitment after the over €100m already laid out on the striker and Gila.

The signing arrives with Rafael Leão's future left hanging over it. Both Tuttosport and QS report that Leão has been offered to Roma, with Tuttosport suggesting a green light at €45m, and Corriere simply noting his future is up in the air. QS reads the two threads as connected, framing Moreira's arrival alongside a Leão exit.

For now the front pages agree on the headline and split on the fee, and the Leão question is the one that decides how far this reshaped attack really goes.
