Milan and Lyon in contact to resolve snags in Fofana deal before deadline

Youssouf Fofana's move to Lyon has run into difficulties, with the two clubs still trying to iron out problems before the window shuts.

Milan are not expected to add anyone before the deadline, but the outgoing side of their business could yet get busy. Warren Bondo is in talks with Sassuolo, and Fofana had looked set to leave after Lyon came forward for the midfielder.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, there have been some snags in the negotiations between Milan and Lyon over the deal. Nothing is finalised, and the parties remain in constant contact as they try to resolve the sticking point.

Di Marzio does not specify what the obstacle involves, so the exact nature of the disagreement is not clear at this stage. What is known is that the two sides have very little time to bridge it, with the window closing at 20:00 CEST.

A return to Ligue 1 would take Fofana back to the league where he made his name at Monaco before his move to Milan.

From here, it is down to Milan and Lyon to close the gap in the hours that remain, or the move falls through with the deadline.
