Milan told Jorge Mendes on Wednesday that they will not lower the €60m asking price for Rafael Leão if a sale is to happen before the window shuts, according to Sky.
The exit rumours around Leão have circled all summer, but the club's message to his agent leaves the winger's departure squarely in the buyer's court. Milan want the number met; they are not chasing a way out.
Leão's future still remains uncertain, Sky report, and in the meeting with Mendes the €60m figure was set as the price required to move him on. There is, however, room to work towards a deal worth around €50m plus bonuses, which would take the package closer to the club's demand without a straight discount on the headline fee.
The list of credible suitors is thinning. Galatasaray can almost be ruled out after being linked with Gabriel Martinelli and Noa Lang for the same left-wing role, while Saudi side Al-Hilal have been floated as a possible destination.
Milan's leadership are hoping Mendes can find a solution in the closing days of the window, with the Premier League or elsewhere in play, though the position remains that there is no need to sell him unless the right offer lands. That framing matters for how the next few days play out: a club selling under pressure negotiates differently to one holding a set price and prepared to keep the player.
