Milan enquired about signing Endrick from Real Madrid but were turned down, and they intend to return for the Brazilian in the winter, according to Matteo Moretto.
With Omari Hutchinson set to arrive from Nottingham Forest on a loan with an option to buy, the attacking department is close to being addressed for now. Endrick, though, remains a name Milan have not let go of, and the door has been left open for a later move.
Speaking on Fabrizio Romano's YouTube channel, Moretto explained that Milan sounded out Real Madrid and were rebuffed, but that the situation could be revisited when the market reopens.
"Milan inquired about whether there was scope for a deal with Real Madrid, but they were very cordially turned down. They appreciate Milan's interest, but Enrick isn't leaving; it was a decision made by Real Madrid, the player, and José Mourinho himself," he said.
Milan have made their position clear to the player's camp for the months ahead. "From what we understand, Milan has let Endrick's entourage know that if the boy were to decide to go on loan in January, or at another time, Milan would be happy with it," Moretto added.
The interest is being kept alive rather than dropped. "Milan are not removing his name from the list, but is keeping him high on the list for the future, should there be scope for a deal with Real Madrid," he said.
No fee or loan terms were mentioned, and any move would depend entirely on Real Madrid's willingness to let the forward leave, along with Endrick's own decision on his game time. For now, the next move belongs to the player and his club in Madrid.
