Milan set to offer Pavlović new deal worth up to €3.5m net per season

AC Milan are preparing to open contract talks with Strahinja Pavlović, with the club looking at a new salary in the region of €3m to €3.5m net per season, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 24-year-old's renewal is part of a broader push by Gerry Cardinale to lock down several first-team regulars. Talks over extensions for Christian Pulisic and Adrien Rabiot are also on the agenda, but the Pavlović situation is described as the most pressing.

Negotiations are still at an early stage and no figures have been agreed, though both sides share a desire to get a deal done, which Gazzetta expects to speed the process along. The new terms would represent roughly a doubling of Pavlović's current wages, a reflection of how his standing at the club has changed since arriving from Salzburg in the summer of 2024.

That first season under Paulo Fonseca and then Sergio Conceição was uneven enough that a January exit to Turkey was discussed. Pavlović stayed, and Massimiliano Allegri's shift to a three-man defence turned him into a regular starter. Under Ruben Amorim he has kept that status. He and Koni De Winter are the only outfield players to have played every minute of the current campaign, and that consistency has come despite Pavlović not fitting the typical profile for Amorim's wide centre-back role.

Off the pitch, his roots in Milan have deepened. He and his wife Masa became parents to a son, Tadija, in April, and the couple recently bought a house in the city. When Premier League clubs made approaches over the summer, Pavlović told his agent, former footballer Zvonimir Vukić, that he had no interest in leaving. The club's view mirrors his own: Cardinale and the sporting department regard the Serbian as one of the core pieces of the squad, and a sale is not being considered unless an offer arrives that is impossible to refuse.

The proposed salary range will be assessed by Pavlović and Vukić before formal discussions begin. From there, both parties will sit down to finalise numbers, but the direction of travel points firmly towards an agreement.
