For a 40-year-old who could have chosen a gentle wind-down anywhere in the world, the decision to commit to another full campaign in Serie A says something about where his head is. Modric arrived last summer as a free transfer, a name signing that also happened to be a genuinely useful footballer, and the doubt was always whether he would want a second year at Milan or treat this as a farewell tour. Gazzetta report that the paperwork is ready at Casa Milan, and that the terms mirror last season: €3.5m net plus bonuses on another 12-month deal. He will join the squad for the pre-season tour in Australia and commit fully to Milan for 2026-27, with his international career ending first.
