AC Milan have signed young forward Edoardo Zanaga from Empoli, with the striker heading straight into Milan Futuro.
The fee is reported at around €300k, according to Italian sources (via SempreMilan). It fits the pattern Milan have followed since setting up the B-team: small, low-risk outlays on teenagers with a physical profile worth developing, rather than paying up for finished products at academy level.
Zanaga is a centre-forward who can also drop in as a second striker or drift wide. He has cited Zlatan Ibrahimović as the player he tries to model himself on, and his frame is the reason the comparison isn't ridiculous coming from a kid.
His path so far: SCA Asti as a boy, then into Juventus' youth setup, before moving to Empoli in the summer of 2022. With the Tuscan club's Under-16s he hit eight goals in nine games and was named the best player in Group C. A serious injury cost him a chunk of the 2024-25 season, but he returned to scoring with the Under-17s before the summer.
The next test is whether that scoring rate travels. Milan Futuro is a harsher environment than youth football, and it's where signings like this one earn or lose the right to be talked about again.
