Official: Odogu joins Toulouse on season-long loan

David Odogu has joined Toulouse on a season-long loan from Milan, with both clubs confirming the move.

The exit follows Ruben Amorim making clear the young German centre-back was not in his immediate plans, leaving a temporary move away as the sensible route to regular football.

The deal had been in motion before the announcement. LesViolets reported that Odogu was in Toulouse on Monday to finalise the transfer once the two clubs had agreed terms.

Milan kept their confirmation brief: “AC Milan can confirm that David Odogu has joined Toulouse FC on loan. The Club would like to wish David all the best for the remainder of the season.”

Toulouse noted his background, describing him as a defender who came through the youth ranks at VfL Wolfsburg before adding him to their squad. President Olivier Cloarec framed the arrival as a sign of the club’s pull with young players: “His arrival from AC Milan on loan demonstrates the appeal of our project and the confidence placed in the club to support young talent in their development.”

Sports Director Viktor Bezhani revealed the interest was not new. “He’s a player we had already scouted when he was playing for Wolfsburg. He then joined AC Milan, and we’ve stayed in touch over the last twelve months,” Bezhani said. “He will bring a lot of solidity to our defense; he’s a very complete player.”

No option or obligation to buy was disclosed in either announcement.

For a prospect who needs minutes rather than a place in the stand, a season in Ligue 1 is the kind of test that tells Milan what they have.
