Christian Pulisic and Ruben Amorim met in person for the first time at Milanello on Wednesday, with the American's injury recovery aimed at the Torino fixture.
Milan were back at Milanello yesterday after the Australia and Indonesia tour and a short break, and the return to work brought coach and player face to face for the first time, according to Tuttosport.
Pulisic's return to action is expected at the end of August. He will not be available for Manchester United, and while a Torino recovery is the target, he will almost certainly not start against the Granata. Having him on the bench as an option in that match would still matter.
He carried on with personalised training yesterday, as did Santiago Gimenez, who is managing an injury picked up at the World Cup. Amorim has already told the former Chelsea man how important he considers him to the 3-4-2-1, a system built around the two players operating behind the striker.
There was better news elsewhere on the fitness front. Mario Gila has all but shaken off the thigh problem he suffered in the friendly against Celtic, returning to partial group training yesterday.
For Amorim, the priority is clear: get Pulisic fit and integrated fast, because the shape he wants leans heavily on the men in those two attacking pockets.
