Milan have added Young Boys attacking midfielder Alvyn Sanches to their list of targets for the position, according to Sky.
The name lands in the middle of a busy 24 hours around Rafael Leão, with Aston Villa reported to have made an offer, Tottenham mentioned among the suitors, and Galatasaray's interest still on the table. Any move for a new attacking midfielder is tied to what happens with the Portuguese, and the club is lining up options in case he goes.
Sky report that Sanches is highly regarded by Milan's scouting and coaching staff, and part of the appeal is that he is left-footed, a profile that would fit naturally into the role. The same report notes Milan could push ahead with a deal in the winter window if the Leão situation does not resolve before then.
The 23-year-old has started the Swiss league season well, with 2 goals and 2 assists in the opening four matches. Last term he returned 10 goals and 4 assists in 28 league games, a strong output for a player operating in that area of the pitch.
Gianluca Di Marzio adds detail on how the club views him. "The Swiss is, in fact, on the Portuguese coach's and AC Milan's list and is being seriously evaluated to strengthen that position, while waiting to see what Rafa Leao's future holds. He has also played as a midfielder in the past and has started the season very well," Di Marzio said.
Milan know the Young Boys market well, having signed Zachary Athekame from the Swiss club a year ago, so the lines of communication already exist should they decide to move.
No fee or timeline has been reported, and for now Sanches sits as one name among several. What Milan do next depends on Leão, and the winter window is where this could come to a head.
