Andrej Kostic has caught Ruben Amorim's eye in his first week at Milanello, and the 19-year-old is pushing to be part of the first-team squad next season, according to Antonio Vitiello of MilanNews.
This complicates the one clear pathway Milan looked to have among their young forwards. Francesco Camarda has been treated as the academy's crown jewel for years, the boy who became the youngest player in Serie A history when Stefano Pioli threw him on in November 2023. The assumption was that his time was coming. Now there's another teenager in the building making the same case, and only so many minutes to go around in a squad that will look different by September.
Kostic is the less familiar name to most Milan fans, so here's the context: he's a Montenegrin forward who scored 12 goals last season in Serbia, and Vitiello says he's serious about earning a place rather than another loan. Amorim, still gathering data on the players he's inherited, has been struck by what he's seen. Both Kostic and Camarda found the net in a training session at Milanello, which is the kind of detail that gets a new manager's attention when the squad is still half-built.
Vitiello also flagged Kevin Comotto and Francesco Ossola as young players worth watching, while noting the obvious, that some of the more experienced names will need to be moved on for any of this to matter.
The Camarda question is the real one here. He turned 17 in March and is coming off a season where minutes were hard to find, and a decision looms on whether he stays to compete or goes out on loan to play every week. Amorim will make that call, and Kostic's emergence only sharpens it.
