Gerry Cardinale has drawn a line in Milan's talks with Como over Samuele Ricci, refusing any deal built on a loan with an option to buy, according to Corriere della Sera.
Ricci arrived as the first signing of the 2025 summer mercato but never settled into the rhythm expected of him, and the doubts have carried into this pre-season, with Ruben Amorim unconvinced by what he offers. That backdrop is why the midfielder is now among those who could leave before the window shuts.
The condition from the top is firm. Cardinale will not sanction a temporary move dressed up with a buy option; Como must either commit to an obligation to buy or table an outright permanent transfer if they want him.
Cesc Fàbregas remains interested, but his side need to sell before they can move. Only after raising funds could Como return with an improved proposal for Milan.
There is also friction in the background. Cardinale is said to be irritated with Como for signing Rossoneri talent Mattia Liberali from under Milan's nose, which does little to smooth these negotiations.
For now, Ricci stays in Amorim's plans and is expected to be called up for the season opener against Torino. Whether he is still a Milan player by the end of the month is a separate question, and one that rests on Como finding the money to meet Cardinale's terms.
