Gerry Cardinale is expected in Milano on Thursday for another mercato summit with Ruben Amorim, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, with the state of an overloaded squad set to dominate the agenda.
The market has stalled for Milan since the pair last met, and the reason is not money. A squad already too full is blocking any fresh business, because until players leave, no one can arrive.
That is the crux of Thursday's talks. Cardinale wants to go through both the incoming and outgoing lists, and the sequencing runs one way: exits first, then arrivals. Financial resources have already been guaranteed even without further sales, so this is not a case of the club tightening its belt.
With Amorim's evaluation of the group now complete, the picture on who goes is taking shape. Santiago Giménez and Youssouf Fofana look the likeliest to leave in the near future, with Fikayo Tomori and Pervis Estupiñán potentially joining them out of the door.
Yunus Musah and Samuele Ricci could also find exits, though only one of the two is expected to go. Rafael Leão sits in his own category, and any move is complicated by the fact that he wants to stay.
On the incoming side, Matías Soulé remains on the radar for the No.10 role. He is not the only name under consideration there, but Gazzetta describes him as worth considering. Gonçalo Inácio stays the first choice at the back, and a wing-back may also be added.
No single deal has been framed as a priority, only a set of ideas the club is working through. The order, though, is not in doubt: for Milan to buy, they first have to sell, and Thursday is where Cardinale and Amorim start settling who that will be.
