Cissé's Serie A form puts him on Mancini's radar for Nations League call-up

Alphadjo Cissé could be in line for an Italy call-up for the October Nations League squad, with Roberto Mancini reportedly considering the Milan youngster as part of a wider youth injection into the Azzurri setup.

Cissé's return from injury earlier in the campaign brought uncertainty about where he would spend the season, with Sassuolo and Torino both involved in discussions over a possible move. He stayed, and the numbers have justified that decision: according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Mancini now has his eyes on the forward after a run of form that places him just outside the top 10 in Serie A for goals relative to minutes played.

The national team is still in the process of rebuilding, even after Paolo Maldini's departure from the project, and Mancini appears willing to lean on emerging talent. Sporting's Issa Doumbia is also under consideration, while Nicolò Tresoldi, a former Milan target, could be involved depending on a pending FIFA eligibility decision.

For Cissé, the domestic picture is just as interesting. His output since returning has been strong enough to raise a genuine question about Christian Pulisic's route back into the starting eleven once Ruben Amorim reintroduces the American.

An Azzurri call-up would be another step in what has already been a breakout season, and it is now Mancini's move.
