Milan came from behind to draw 1-1 with Inter in Australia this afternoon, with Christopher Nkunku's penalty cancelling out the Nerazzurri's opener in another pre-season stalemate against the city rivals.
Ruben Amorim's second friendly of the summer was an entertaining watch, and the Rossoneri had the better of a first half they should have led. When the game tightened after the break, the subs shifted the balance and rescued the draw.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek was the standout and man of the match with a 7.5. The Englishman did everything right to tee up Yunus Musah for what should have been an assist, created more chances himself, and caught the eye with his passing and movement throughout.
At the other end of the scale, Fikayo Tomori got a 4.5 for his part in the goal. He was ball-watching rather than protecting the far post, and a single glance over his shoulder would have picked up Federico Dimarco, a lapse that recalled too many conceded last season.
In goal, Lorenzo Torriani earned a 7, growing into the game with a good stop to deny youngster Lavelli and a fine late save on Hakan Calhanoglu. Alongside Tomori in defence, Matteo Gabbia (5.5) was steady but caught out of position on the goal, while Strahinja Pavlović (6) was the pick of the centre-backs, tight in his duels and willing to carry the ball forward.
Chukwueze (5.5) could not repeat his electric showing against Celtic and struggled to make anything happen in attack. Youssouf Fofana (6) covered plenty of ground and played out of tight areas, and Musah (5) was unlucky to hit the post but has to score from that range. Davide Bartesaghi (6) put in a decent, unremarkable shift down the flank.
Among the younger names, Cissé (6) started one move with a sharp pass but gave the ball away a few times, while Francesco Camarda (6) flashed good feet on occasion without being fed often enough for a penalty-box striker.
Off the bench, Pervis Estupiñán (5.5) made an important early clearance but misplaced the ball in the build-up to Inter's goal. Nkunku (6.5) won the penalty smartly, even if the decision was debatable, and buried it high to the corner. Filippo Terracciano (6) and 18-year-old Vladimirov (6) both handled themselves well, as did Koni De Winter (6) with a couple of timely challenges.
The senior substitutes lifted the level. Luka Modrić (7) commanded the game with quick, tidy passing from the moment he arrived, helping Milan settle back on the ball, and Ardon Jashari (6.5) came on with energy and switched play cleverly. Alexis Saelemaekers (6.5) added movement and running, while Rafael Leão (6.5), amid the transfer noise around him, nearly combined for a lovely goal only for Provedel to gamble early and smother the cross. Gonçalo Ramos (6.5) was the man linking with Leão for that chance and showed good composure in the box.
Amorim himself got a 6. Milan were the better side for much of the first half and should have led, and when the game turned in the second, he went to his bench to change it.
