AC Milan and PUMA have officially launched the club's white away kit for the 2026-27 season, a shirt designed as a tribute to the 2007 Champions League final win in Athens.
Kit launches are commercial exercises first, but they also tell you where the club wants to point its identity. Milan run on commercial income more than most, and leaning the whole campaign on a European trophy, rather than anything happening on the pitch right now, is a reminder of where the prestige still sits. The teaser a few days ago had already given the game away with its "After Istanbul there's always Athens" line, a nod to the 2005 collapse against Liverpool and the redemption two years later.
Filippo Inzaghi fronts the campaign, which is the obvious choice. Pippo scored both goals in the 2-1 win over Liverpool in Athens, the reverse fixture of the Istanbul nightmare, and no one carried the shirt with more edge in that era.
The design work is where the anniversary theme lives. There's gold detailing, a laurel wrapped around the badge, and inside the collar of the authentic version a Greek inscription, "Δύναμη Ψυχής" (Dýnami Psychís, "strength of spirit"), paired with a phoenix wing.
On the technical side, the authentic shirt uses PUMA's ULTRAWEAVE fabric with dryCELL and ThermoAdapt, while the replica is made with RE:FIBRE, 95% recycled polyester from textile waste.
The one thing the announcement doesn't tell you is the price, which is what most supporters actually want before deciding whether to buy. Milan's recent PUMA authentic shirts have retailed around the €150 mark, with replicas closer to €90, so expect this one to land in that range when it hits the store.
Whether a shirt anchored to 2007 feels inspiring or a little nostalgic depends on what this squad does in Europe next season. Milan will decide that part themselves.
