AC Milan have confirmed their 2026/27 away shirt, a cream-white kit built around the 20th anniversary of the club's 2007 Champions League win in Athens.
For a fanbase that has watched the modern side scrap for top-four finishes, the kit leans on the one thing the club still trades on globally: history, and specifically seven European Cups. The 2007 final against Liverpool in Athens was Milan's revenge for Istanbul two years earlier, and it remains the last time the Rossoneri lifted the trophy. Nearly two decades on, that win is still the anchor of the club's identity in a way recent results simply aren't, so it makes sense the marketing department reaches for it.
The shirt goes on sale from Tuesday, July 21. It carries a wreath around the crest, matching the early leaks, and the phrase "After Istanbul, there's always Athens" printed on the collar as a nod to the 2006/07 campaign.
The club described the classic white as "a symbol of a winning attitude," which is standard kit-launch language, but the Athens reference is the part that actually means something to supporters.
One detail that answers the obvious question of who fronts the campaign: Filippo Inzaghi, scorer of both goals in the 2-1 win over Liverpool, is the face of the kit on Milan's official site. A logical choice, given no player is more tied to that night.
For a club whose recent shirts have sold on nostalgia more than silverware, the Athens away kit is honest about where Milan's biggest selling point still lies.
