Milan suffered their first defeat of pre-season, going down 3-0 to Chelsea in a game shaped by their own defensive mistakes.
Ruben Amorim's side arrived still chasing a first win of the summer and instead found themselves second best throughout. Chelsea were the stronger team, and errors from the Rossoneri made the job easier for them.
Torriani took the man of the match nod with a 6. He carried no blame for the goals, with the first two coming from poor defending in front of him and the third unstoppable, and he pulled off saves on Joao Pedro, Neto and Estevao across the 90 minutes.
The night belonged to the defensive lapses. Terracciano earned the lowest mark of the game at 4.5, his part in the second goal described as comical, arms out as he let the cross come in and lost his man completely. De Winter landed a 5 after mistiming his jump at the corner that led to Chelsea's opener. Pavlović fared best of the back line on a 6, credited with strong duels, interceptions high up the pitch and a few forward runs.
Further up, Chukwueze took a 5.5, beaten repeatedly by Palestra down the right and asked to do defensive work that does not come naturally to him. Modrić got a 6 for a couple of balls over the top that his teammates could have used better, while Comotto managed a 5.5 across his 45 minutes with some tidy support play.
Estupiñán was marked at 5, struggling against Neto but punished mostly for wasting a Leão cutback by firing straight at the goalkeeper. Loftus-Cheek slipped to a 5.5, a step down from his Inter showing, with one promising run down the right the extent of his contribution. Leão also took a 5.5, lively early and the creator of that Estupiñán chance, but eventually controlled by Josh Acheampong late in the first half. Camarda rounded out the front line on a 5.5, quiet in attack and missing from the build-up.
Off the bench, Musah came out best on a 6, singled out as the standout substitute for a sharp run that carved out a chance for Nkunku and Ramos, plus some solid work in possession. Gabbia, Diawara, Saelemaekers, Jashari, Bartesaghi, Nkunku, Ramos, Ricci and Vladimirov all landed on 5.5, with Diawara's block noted alongside sloppy technique in possession and Vladimirov unsurprisingly exposed against this level of opponent.
Amorim was given a 5.5. The individual errors on the first two goals are hard to lay at his door, but Milan were not up to the task tactically, and while the scoreline overstated the gap, more was there to be had.
With the win still eluding them, the pressure now sits on Amorim to find answers before the season proper begins.
