Fikayo Tomori is prepared to see out the final year of his Milan contract rather than leave this summer, according to Nicolò Schira, with the defender having turned down three offers from abroad.
An exit had looked plausible for much of the window. Even after Ruben Amorim gave him minutes in pre-season, Tomori remained available for interested clubs to consider, and that interest duly arrived.
Schira reported on his X account that the centre-back would prefer to be sidelined than move on at this stage. The Englishman is ready to stay with the Rossoneri until his deal expires next summer, having rejected three approaches from foreign sides.
That leaves Milan with a squad question rather than a solution. The club remain set on adding another central defender before the window shuts, and Tomori falling outside the plans does not alter that ambition. If he stays and the reinforcement arrives, the defensive depth chart only grows more crowded.
The stand-off is a familiar shape for a player with one year left and no intention of forcing his own exit. From here, it is up to Milan to decide whether to keep pushing for a sale or accept a defender who would rather wait it out.
